Dark Lips

Lip color, like skin tone, is unique to each individual. There is no such thing as a healthy lip color. A change in the lip’s color or its condition may suggest that the lips require additional attention in some cases. It is rarely a reason for concern, though.

Causes
Smoking

Tobacco smoke contains nicotine and benzpyrene, which can accelerate melanin synthesis in the skin. As a result, lips may darken over time.

Sun Exposure

When skin is exposed to the sun, the body produces melanin to absorb the UV radiation. This shields the skin from some of the harmful effects of the sun. It also causes tanning of the skin. Sun protection for the lips, as well as the rest of the body, is essential. Lip balms with an SPF of 30 or higher can help protect the lips from sun damage.

Certain Medications

Hyperpigmentation on the skin and lips can be caused by some drugs. Antimalarial medicines and some oral antibiotics are among them. When the drug period is finished, the skin should return to its normal color, however hyperpigmentation may remain in some people.

Remedies
Keep yourself Hydrated

One of the best methods to take care of your skin is to drink plenty of water. One of the first regions of the body to seem dry and parched is the lips. To make a delightful and refreshing drink, add a slice of cucumber or lemon to a glass of water.

Use Scrubs, Oils and Lip balms

Exfoliating the lips gently with a scrub might aid in the removal of dead skin cells. Exfoliating too frequently, on the other hand, might create irritation and sensitivity. Because the skin of the lips is so fragile, it should only be exfoliated once a week. As a natural cure for dry lips, use a good quality almond or coconut oil. Rub the oil into your lips several times a day. Within a day or two, the results should be obvious. Using a lip balm on a regular basis will help keep your lips hydrated and healthy. To avoid melting, keep the lip balm in a cool place.
