Dark Circles

The discoloured skin beneath your eyes is known as Dark Circles. The thin layer of skin beneath your eyes reflects the blood vessels and the blood they carry more clearly than anywhere else on your body, resulting in dark circles. It’s not the same as bruising around one eye as a result of an injury or redness and swelling due to illness.

Causes
Fatigue

Dark circles can grow beneath your eyes as a result of oversleeping, excessive weariness, or simply staying up a few hours past your typical bedtime. Sleep deprivation can not just make your skin look dull and pale, revealing dark tissues and blood vessels beneath the surface, but also cause fluid to accumulate behind your eyes, making them puffy. As a result, your dark circles could be shadows cast by your puffy eyelids.

Dehydration

One of the most common causes for Dark Circles is Dehydration. When your body is dehydrated, the skin beneath your eyes becomes dull and your eyes appear sunken. This is due to their close proximity to the underlying bone.

Allergies

Dark circles can be caused by allergic responses and eye dryness. As a response to allergy, your body releases histamines that cause your blood vessels to dilate and become more visible beneath your skin in addition to creating unpleasant symptoms like itching, redness, and swollen eyes.

Ageing

Another typical reason for dark circles under your eyes is natural ageing. Your skin becomes thinner as you get older. You also lose the fat and collagen required to keep your skin supple. The dark blood vessels beneath your skin become more noticeable, thereby darkening the area beneath your eyes.

Straining Eyes

Staring at a television, phone, or computer screen for long periods of time can put a lot of strain on your eyes. This strain can cause blood vessels around your eyes to enlarge. As a result, the skin surrounding your eyes can darken.

Over-Exposure to Sunlight

Excessive sun exposure can cause your body to manufacture too much melanin, the pigment that gives your skin colour. Too much sun, especially around your eyes, can deepen pigmentation in the surrounding skin.
