HAIR THINNING
Targeted, concentrated treatment to increase hair density and volume
A visible decrease in hair density is the result of the gradual condition known as hair thinning. Thinning happens gradually as opposed to abruptly; the hair strands get finer, the dividing line gets wider, and the scalp shows more. It can be emotionally upsetting and affects both men and women.
At Rasa Derm, we recognize that losing hair is about confidence more than appearance. By addressing the underlying causes, our dermatologist-led therapies help maintain current hair, promote thicker regrowth, and enhance scalp health.
A combination of environmental stimuli and internal imbalances that weaken the hair shaft or interfere with the natural cycle of hair growth frequently causes hair loss. The following factors contribute to it:
Alopecia Androgenetica (Genetic Hair Loss)
Over time, follicles gradually shrink due to this hereditary trait, resulting in finer hair. Affected follicles eventually completely stop producing new hair.
Changes in Hormones
Hormones like estrogen and testosterone, which control hair density and volume, can be out of balance due to menopause, thyroid issues, postpartum recovery, and PCOS.
Low iron, vitamin D, biotin, or omega-3 fatty acid levels, along with inadequate protein intake, can damage hair strands, slow down renewal, and cause gradual thinning.
Prolonged stress raises cortisol levels, which alters the cycle of hair growth. As a result, apparent density gradually decreases as more follicles transition into the resting (telogen) phase.
The scalp’s capacity to hold onto nutrients, blood flow, and moisture declines with age. Hair dries out, gets thinner, and is more likely to break and thin.
Frequent stress from chemical treatments, tight ponytails, or braids weakens hair roots and causes a slow loss of volume.
Microinflammation of the Scalp
Over time, follicles may get weaker and hair diameter may decrease due to mild but persistent irritation, which is frequently caused by dandruff or accumulation.
Stressors in the Environment
Processed food diets and irregular sleep patterns can cause immune system weakness, hormone imbalance, and systemic inflammation.
Progress and Knowing When to Act
- A wider section of hair, a more noticeable scalp, and trouble getting volume are some of the early symptoms.
- In women, the crown and top of the head are frequently affected by gradual thinning, while in men, the vertex or receding hairlines are affected.
- At advanced stages, there may be noticeable patches on the scalp, sensitivity to the scalp, and a general decrease in hair density.
The key is early diagnosis. Regrowth and volume restoration are much more likely if you address hair thinning before follicles fully shrink.
Our goal is to restore density by reviving dormant follicles, nourishing the scalp, and improving blood circulation with advanced, evidence-based solutions.
